January 10 & 11
Redland Festival
10am to 5pm
Admission: $6 (Children 11 & under are free)
A tradition at the Park since 1976, this annual festival features local arts and crafts, a large selection of tropical plants and great food. Children’s activities include a petting zoo, pony rides, an interactive puppet & magic show, and a wild and wonderful Everglades reptile show.

March 7 & 8
20th Annual Asian Culture Festival
10 am to 6 pm
Admission: $7 (Children 11 & under are free)
In its 20th year, this annual festival features Asian crafts, art, and exotic music and dance, highlighted by a tasty selection of authentic Far Eastern cuisine. Children can participate in the Asian passport activity, and receive a special gift upon completion. Sponsors: Thai-American Association, and the Fruit & Spice Park.

May 15, 16, 17
Redland International Orchid Show
9 am to 5 pm
Admission: $6
Truly the largest annual orchid show in the U.S. featuring over 50 booths of educational exhibits and orchid vendors. An American Orchid Society judged event showcasing various types of orchids, plants, and supplies for sale, as well as lectures by experts, raffles, and international food.

June 20, 21
Redland Summer Fruit Festival
10 am to 5 pm
Admission $6: (Children 11 & under are free)
This annual event showcases local agriculture, and tropical fruits. Vendor booths featuring local wines, yummy foods, and rare fruit samplings will be available. Sponsored by the Fruit and Spice Park.

November 14th & November 15th
Great Green Family Festival
10 am to 5 pm
Admission: $6 : (Children 11 & under are free)
A new festival showcasing “Eco-Friendly” living including: local & organic farmer’s market, alternative energy, vehicles & fuels, medicinal herbs, oils, & teas, natural foods, and culinary plants. Live musical entertainment, lectures & children’s activities. Services to include: Aromatherapy, yoga, tai chi, reiki, and chair massage. Sponsors: Redland Evening Herb Society, and the Fruit & Spice Park.

Organic Gardening
Lecturer: Margie Pikarsky
Fee: $10
Organic food tastes like “Food” should! It hasn’t been genetically altered, or picked green without flavor. Organic gardening may take a few extra steps but the effort is worth it.

February 28th
Growing Food in your Backyard
Lecturer: Chris Rollins
Fee: $10
Whether growing vegetables, herbs, or exotic foods you will have to know the basics. Chris will guide you through the types of soil, fertilizer and specific growing needs for your backyard garden.

March 28th
What’s the Buzz with Bees?
Lecturer: Lee Dellsignores
Fee: $10
Have you eaten a steak lately? If so, be thankful to the honey bee! Find out what you can do to protect, and promote their well-being. Without bees there is no food.

April 25th
Butterfly & Hummingbird Gardening
Lecturer: Cindy David
Fee: $10
Butterfly’s and Hummingbirds need certain plants in order to reproduce and sustain. Turn your backyard into a butterfly and hummingbird bed & breakfast.

May 30th
Native Orchids
Lecturer: Roger Hammer
Fee: $10
Most people go to a grower to find their prized orchids, but internationally recognized naturalist Roger Hammer will reveal to you how you find them in our own backyard.

Propagation
10 am to 5 pm
Instructor: Chris Rollins
Fee: $40
Learn the methods utilized in producing tropical fruit trees; how to plant, seed, air layer and graft. All day session that breaks for lunch. Receive a tree to graft to take home.

February 7th
Redland Farm Tour
10 am to 1 pm
Guide Chris Rollins
Fee: $25
Join Park Manager Chris Rollins as you visit various orchards, and vegetable farms throughout the Redland. A great time to sample the winter vegetables from the Redland agricultural community.

February 21st
Organic Heirloom Tomato Gardening
10 am to 1 pm
Instructor: Arturo Gonzalez
Fee: $25
Learn to grow these exotic gems, and sample the extraordinary varieties including: Zebra, Red Pear, Vintage wine, Black Krim & Amana Orange. You’ll never want to eat a store bought one again!

March 14th
Bamboo Day
10 am to 1 pm
Instructor: Daniel Holmes
Fee: $45
Learn to grow and cultivate different varieties of Bamboo and their uses. Includes a tour of the Park’s 70 varieties of bamboo, which is the largest public collection of tropical bamboo in the United States. Demonstrations by Bamboo craftsman, Bamboo handicraft exhibit, plants, products, and books will be available. Rice cooked in bamboo will be served.

June 13th
Mango Mania
10 am to 1 pm
Instructor: Chris Rollins
Fee: $35
It’s everything you want to know about mangos; how to grow them, their insect and disease problems, recipes, and the many varieties. Sample fruits until the juice drips from your elbows, and taste luscious sticky rice with mango. Visit the more than the 150 varieties growing in the Park.

June 20th
Lychee & Longan Workshop
1 pm to 3 pm
Instructor: Chris Rollins
Fee: $25
Learn about these revered Chinese fruits, from their ancient cultivation to modern mania. Growing needs, problems, and varieties will be covered. Workshop will be held during the Redland Summer Fruit Festival.

September 5th
Vegetable Gardening, Container Gardening & Unusual Vegetables
10 am to 4 pm
Instructor: Chris Rollins
Fee: $35
Learn various techniques to grow vegetables in your own backyard, including; conventional, exotic and ethnic vegetables as well as planting techniques, and practices needed to produce safe, fresh, and clean vegetables at home.

October 24th
Historic Garden Tour of the Redland
10 am to 1 pm

Fee: $25
Join Park Manager Chris Rollins as you tour landscaped estates, gorgeous gardens, and historic landmarks in the Redland. Get inspired to create your own backyard paradise!

Learn Sushi from Sauchi
11 am to 1 pm
Fee: $25
What do get when you have shrimp, vegetables, seaweed and rice? Sushi Rolls! Sauchi will teach you all the neat techniques and the history behind these delectable treats.

February 7 & October 10
Kid’s Herb Pizza Garden
10 am to 1 pm
Fee: $10
Instructor: Karen Esty
Kids will have blast! Make the best pizza in the world from your very own herb garden. Learn to plant and care for the various herbs that are used in cooking. Kids will go straight from the garden to the parks kitchen to create their very own masterpieces. Delizioso!

February 8 & October 11
All Natural Herbal Teas
1 pm – 3 pm
Instructor: Miguel Cisneros
Fee: $10
Learn to make your own healthy natural herbal teas from the garden. Miguel will guide you through all the steps from growing techniques to steeping fresh herbs such as, purple basil, lemongrass, tarragon, and assorted mints.

Tai Chi (Every Saturday)

Instructor: Elisa C. Smith
Fee: $10
Elisa will calmly guide you in the practice of this ancient martial art. Experience increased energy, strengthened muscles, joint mobility, improved balance, posture, and flexibility. Breathing exercises will aid in healthy stress release.

Yoga (Every Saturday)
9:30 am – 10:30am
Instructor: Deanna Carlile-Alvarez
Fee: $10
Experience a complete attitude adjustment! Begin with gentle stretching & strengthening exercises. Learn breathing techniques that relax tight muscles and add a sense of renewal and lightness.

Tropical Fruit & Vegetable Society of The Redland
• Free tasting table, plant exchange and horticultural library.
• Monthly guest speaker lecturing on tropical fruits & vegetables.
• Meetings held on the last Wednesday of each month at 7:30 pm.

South Dade Garden Club
• Meets monthly on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm.
• In existence for 70 years, 55 years at the Park.
• Come to a meeting and learn about gardening, and make some new friends.

Redland Evening Herb Society
• Meets monthly on the 1st Wednesday of the month at 7:30 pm.
• Enjoy learning about herbs and their uses.
